Sunday: Crown Chakra
The Crown Chakra or Sahasrara, is located at the top/crown of the head or one inch above the head, not directly connected to the body. The word sahasrara means “thousand.” “Sahasrara is visualized by a shining [purple] lotus of a thousand petals, containing the fifty letters of the Sanskrit alphabet twenty times over.” -S. Saraswati (page 533) At the center of the thousand-petaled lotus is the scared bija mantra aum. Unlike the third eye, during meditation, you only think this mantra instead of chanting this mantra out loud. No element is connected to this chakra. The “animal” connected to this chakra is an egg, being a symbol of rebirth or new life.
This is the place that holds your sense of bliss, presence, realization, as well as a higher consciousness and a connection to a higher power or the divine. If your crown chakra is out of balance you might be feeling cynical, disregarding what is scared, be closed minded, feeling disconnected from your spirit, or living in your head. The organs connected to this chakra are your nervous system, pineal gland, and pituitary glad.
Some essential oils that are great for balancing this chakra are cedarwood, jasmine, rose, frankincense, rosewood, lavender, and sandalwood. Some food that also help balance this chakra are purple grapes, blueberries, purple carrots, eggplant, cocoa. The stones associated with this chakra are selenite, clear quartz, amethyst, and diamond.
